Scideas started as (and still is) a community for the sharing of ideas for the teaching of science in schools by the class of 2010 at Moray House. The old forums are still available and I would encourage you to use them if you are currently a member or join them if you have an interest in science education and want to participate.
However, since we have left university and got real jobs, with real pressures and real demands on our time, the forums (which ware the only content of the site) have fallen into virtual disuse.
For some time I have been mulling using this site as a vehicle for sharing some of the things we do in our classes and perhaps as a forum for discussion of good practice and current events.
In my first post I became well known for doing a lot of practical experiments and I would like to share them here. I am well aware that we all do amazing things in our classes, wouldn’t it be best to share them with others? I know I am keen to pick up ideas from others!
I also ran a podcast group at my last school and was surprised that this was viewed as something that was expensive and/or difficult to achieve by my colleagues, I would like to talk about this here also. The pupils who created these loved it and I think we barely scratched the surface of the ideas potential.
As ever, I would like this to be a collaboration, if you are interested in joining and sharing your practice I would love to have you.
